A Unique Farm

Phoenix Gardens is located in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  Not quite urban and not quite rural, our farm sits at the transition point where city begins to turn into country.  Phoenix Gardens is situated on 2.5 acres and is composed of a blend of sustainable growing practices.  We grow crops directly in the field, in raised beds and in several high tunnels on the farm.  We also integrate poultry, bees, pollinator plantings and cut flower production into our operation with the goal of creating a truly holistic environment while running a profit minded production farm.

After our devastating fire in 2015, we saw the opportunity to build a model of small scale sustainable agriculture.  We brought in a permaculture designer who developed a plan that built some important features into our gardens.  Swales and rain bars were installed throughout the property to mitigate erosion and to keep rainwater on the property.  Water lines and faucets were installed throughout the farm and will eventually be fed by a 12,000 gallon rainwater harvesting system.

But running an environmentally sustainable farm isn’t our only priority, we need to run a profitable farm as well.  So in addition to bringing in the permaculture designer, we also collaborated with a farm business consultant to advise us on strengthening our business practices as we restarted our farm.  In addition to our intensively planted vegetable crops, we are putting in large collections of perennial culinary herbs and specialty cut flowers.

We periodically offer tours of our farm and invite you to visit.
